Talk to the author of Grace will Lead Us Home

Talk to Jennifer Berry Hawes, author of the acclaimed Grace Will Lead Us Home: The Charleston Church Massacre and the Hard Inspiring Journey for Forgiveness, at the Women's Guild Book Discussion at East View United Church of Christ. This is special Black History Month discussion. Ms. Hawes will participate in a telephone discussion. Her book was listed among the New York Times' 100 Notable Books of 2019. On June 17, 2015, a young Neo-Nazi walked into a Bible study at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church and killed nine people. Three survived. The author tells how those survivors and relatives and friends of the slain church goers recover from this devastating loss. Ms. Hawes is a reporter for The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C. She won a Pulitzer Prize for her work on the paper's series on domestic violence against women in South Carolina. The discussion is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
